Amateur Type's retail fonts are all in-progress. Each anxiety-backed, second-guessed decision is driven by the goal of getting these babies from Amateur to Pro.
Pro Status
I'll level with you. The idea of attempting to design fonts on par with the pro foundries had me avoiding this endeavor for years – but you eventually have to start somewhere. Hence the name, Amateur. Get it? Let me elaborate further.
Each font will launch with a basic Latin character set and a tiered list of goals; categorized as Amateur, Novice, and Pro. Ongoing cleanup and noodling with kerning is a given – think outside the bun.
For example, Nightgown → will be updated with a full lowercase character set and additional weights. Apple Box → will be expanded into a full family of ridiculously expanded fonts, and not that you asked, but I'm personally working on drinking more water.
Once all goals and tiers are completed, the font will ceremoniously earn the status of Pro.

Feel the absolute rush of being on Shark Tank as you invest in the next big thing since the Wake N’ Bacon—the world's first alarm clock to wake you with fresh-cooked bacon (I didn't just make that up, check out the pitch for yourself→).
Buying into a font early will grandfather you into its subsequent tier updates—meaning, you could theoretically get a family of 6+ fonts and a variable for the price of 1 style (whoa). Pretty sharp investment since the price will go up with each tier...though I’m not sure how smart it is to invest in a company with poop as its logo.

In an effort to bring a little more fun to your doomscroll, I'll be opening polls on a monthly basis. These polls could be as simple as choosing between alt characters, to deciding which font family I'll pursue next. Community building? Or a cop out for my indecisiveness? Who knows? Maybe we should take a vote on it.
Additionally, each new font release will launch with a poll asking my wonderful constituents to submit and vote on bonus challenges. Laugh at me if I can't achieve them (even though I will, out of spite).
